The commonly used aluminum based sheets for aluminum substrates are mainly1000 series, 5000 series, and 6000 series.

The classification characteristics are as follows:

① 1000 series

representative 1050, 1060, 10701000 series aluminum plates are also known as pure aluminum plates. Among all series, the 1000 series has the highest aluminum content, with a purity of over 99.00%. Due to the absence of other technical elements, the production process is relatively simple and the price is relatively cheap. It is currently the most commonly used series in conventional industry. Currently, the majority of products in circulation on the market are the 1050 and 1060 series. The minimum aluminum content of the 1000 series aluminum plate is determined based on the last two digits. For example, the last two digits of the 1050 series are 50. According to international brand naming principles, the aluminum content must be above 99.5% to be considered a qualified product. In China's aluminum alloy technical standard (GB/T3880-2006), it is also clearly stipulated that the aluminum content of 1050 should reach 99.5%. The same principle applies to 1060 series aluminum plates, which must have an aluminum content of at least 99.6%.

② 5000 series

representative5052, 5005, 5083, 5A05 series. The 5000 series aluminum plate belongs to the commonly used alloy aluminum plate series, with magnesium as the main element and a magnesium content between 3-5%. It is also known as aluminum magnesium alloy. The main characteristics are low density, high tensile strength, and high elongation. The weight of aluminum magnesium alloy is lower than other series under the same area, so it is commonly used in aviation, such as aircraft fuel tanks. In addition, it is also widely used in conventional industries. Its processing technology is continuous casting and rolling, belonging to the hot-rolled aluminum plate series, so it can be used for deep oxidation processing. The 5000 series aluminum plate is one of the more mature aluminum plate series in China.

③ 6000 series

representative6061 mainly contains two elements, magnesium and silicon, which combines the advantages of the 4000 series and 5000 series. 6061 is a cold treated aluminum forging product suitable for applications with high requirements for corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance. Good usability, excellent interface characteristics, easy coating, and good processability. The general characteristics of 6061 include excellent interface features, easy coating, high strength, good usability, and strong corrosion resistance. Considering the texture, hardness, elongation, chemical properties, and price of the material itself, aluminum substrates are generally commonly used at present5052 alloy aluminum plate in the 5000 series aluminum material.

Aluminum substrate is a type of copper-clad laminate that uses aluminum as the substrate and has good heat dissipation. We usually use aluminum substrates for circuit boards that require good heat dissipationIn the application of LED lights, due to the high heat generation of LEDs, if the heat is not dissipated in time, the brightness is prone to decay and even burn outchipAluminum is a metal with good thermal conductivity,LED beads can quickly dissipate heat when mounted on an aluminum substrate. Aluminum substrates are designed with insulation layers, which do not conduct electricity. If they conduct electricity, it is impossible to design circuits on them.

 

A single-sided aluminum substrate generally has three layers, namely a circuit layer (copper foil), an insulation layer, and an aluminum metal base layer. There is an insulation layer between the circuit layer and the aluminum substrate, so it will not cause a short circuit. The high-end double-layer aluminum substrate has circuit layers on both sides, with the aluminum base in the middle. Multilayer aluminum substrates are extremely rare.

LED lights generally use single-sided aluminum substrates, with LED mounted on the circuit layer. The aluminum base on the back can make good contact with the heat sink to dissipate heat.

The insulation layer in aluminum substrate is the most critical and core technology of aluminum substrate. It not only needs to adhere to copper foil, but also has good thermal conductivity, because the insulation layer of aluminum substrate is the biggest thermal barrier. If the heat of copper foil cannot be quickly transferred to the aluminum substrate, the aluminum substrate will lose its meaning.
